Makini School started in 1978 as a nursery school withj just 8 children in a three-bedroomed house.

It has evolved into pre-school, primary and secondary sections  It also has a commercial college offering professional qualifications.

Makini offers the local Kenyan 8-4-4 system of education with students sitting the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) at the end of the primary cycle in Std 8 and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E.) at the end of the secondary cycle in Form 4.
